Hello everyone! This is a friendly reminder that any of these fun places we may visit, we are a guest at. Please treat both businesses and trails with the utmost respect. We here at Hidden California follow the 'Leave no Trace' mantra, meaning whatever you bring with you comes back with you. If you see trash on a trail, please do your part to help remove it. Remember, we are not picking up trash from another person but instead cleaning up for Mother Nature. Happy adventures!
Abandoned All-Boys Military School
We no longer give directions to this spot
Personal Experience: Well this spot instantly goes down as one of my top adventures of all time. We explored this a week or so after Halloween, after we had really immersed ourselves in the Halloween spirit playing horror video games and watching a ton of horror movies. It couldn’t have been better timing to really screw with our psyche as the setting of this place looks like the beginning of a true horror story.
This spot is a literal palace with beautiful remnants still remaining so keep your eyes peeled! We went in the day and it’s still almost pitch black in many of the locations so make sure to bring a flashlight. One floor is almost completely dedicated to the dorm rooms. We found kitchens and freezers, offices, the super-creepy basement, an attic that we did not attempt to go in because it is NOT safe, the mess hall and so much more.
Despite the obvious destruction from God knows what, there was very little graffiti or litter which is exactly how the place should remain. Help preserve this beautiful, historical spot as it is brimming with stories.
Here is our adventure:
Hey! My family were the caretakers of this property for 10 years! What an awesome place to live as a teen! I enjoyed to see the inside again. I didn’t take many pictures when I was there. Of course, it saddens me to see it so beat up. I hope someone will buy it AND care for it.
Drive by it all the time, I can remember when I was younger and it was still in use. Sad to see it sit there empty. Would love to have the $ to restore it, and live in it! Amazing!
There is a growing misconception that if a building is abandoned that it is also haunted. They do not go hand in hand . Usually you need some type of death or traumatic event that leads to death in order to have some type of ghost or haunting. I have research this location inside and out and there is nothing that leads me to believe it is haunted. No matter how many “paranormal investigators” say that they toy boxes claim there were speaking to the dead if so then why did they not submit it to the proper scientists for evaluation? There is up a million dollars in reward money for anyone who can prove the existence of anything paranomal, you would think they would jump at the chance if they had no doubt. Plus a female spirit at an all boys school?
Is there still a woman guarding the place with her dogs?
The pictures of this place are stunning. I would love to visit and take in the place but I don’t want to run into any big dogs.
Hi everyone! i HAVE been here, and yes, it is AMAZING. It’s in a very strange area, but if you decide to go, be very careful to watch out for neighbors. There was some sort of trailer inside the fence by the military school, and not sure who it was or what they were doing there, but we went in anways! huge property.. 10/10 do recomend
I went to this military school and believe me, half the love you read and hear is love and the other half is all lies. It was a beautiful old building and the school was great and its sad to see it like this. It’s like someone is mocking one of your family members when they got old and ignored. Please take the time to look through the net for the beautiful pictures that best represent her.
Just passed by today, and it’s all boarded up. There’s a lady living in a trailer home on the property that patrols the area with two large dogs… Couldn’t find a way to get in, and didn’t want to risk having her call the authorities, so I left. From the outside, the main difference is that boards covering all the windows and doorways are painted light blue and also vandalized. The pool is completely painted, but worth seeing because of the interesting art.
You mentioned getting permission from the property managers. How could I do that? I want to take profecional photos with my husband in a place like:)

My father attended this school and graduated as the Major for the entire school. I have photos of better days there.
I too am trying to figure out how to go about asking for permission.
How do I go about getting permission to explore the place with a friend?
My husband and I taught school at LEMA September 1974-75. We lived on campus in duplex housing. My husband taught history and I had the elementary boys. A few girls attended the school as cadets that year. Fond memories of the Conklins and students we taught!
