About the Temecula Duck Pond

I stumbled upon the Temecula Duck Pond by chance one day when I went too far from the destination I was actually trying to get to. I noticed a pond and saw a restaurant above it and thought “Hey, this looks like a nice place to spend a little time and get some sunshine”.

It was more exciting than I originally expected it to be.  From the entrance we came from, we were greeted by a beautiful Japanese archway known as a Torygate with two majestic cat (I think?) sculptures on each side of the entrance.

Apparently these are gifts from Temecula’s current sister city Daisen-Nakayama, Japan which was a bit strange because a bit further down the pathway we came across a sculpture that was a gift from their former sister city.

That gift was an interesting sculpture called “Singing in the Rain. “It had a plaque that said “This statue of mother and children bravely pedaling into a storm is a gift from Temecula’s sister city Leidshendam-Voorburg to honor the resilient spirit in the aftermath of September 11, 2001.”

A central feature of the park is the “Letters Home” Veterans Memorial, which includes the “Path of Honor” lined with engraved pavers recognizing veterans. Nearby, the Fallen Heroes Memorial adds further tribute, and the park also hosts annual events like the 9/11 Memorial and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

All in all, the Temecula Duck pond is a scenic public park known for its tranquil duck pond and commemorative installations. Dedicated on July 28, 1995, the park serves as both a peaceful retreat and an outdoor sculpture garden that honoring local heroes.

The park’s serene duck pond is home to various waterfowl species and is surrounded by walking paths, benches, and a large grass area ideal for picnics. Visitors can enjoy the peaceful setting while being reminded not to feed the ducks “people food” to help protect their health.
